About
Brother Barnabas is the pen name for a group of current and former pastors who endeavor to encourage other church leaders and bring about a more Biblical way of "doing church." While many of the articles are written by the same author, the articles are based upon the life experiences and fictional illustrations offered by numerous contributors. Why Use a pen name?
We use a pen name for many reasons:
1) We want to glorify God, not ourselves, and we want all profits to go towards encouraging church leaders and helping people discover Biblical church.
2) Anonymity allows our contributors to be honest and it protects churches and ministries.
3) Anonymity allows reader to focus on his or her own situation, not one particular church or denomination.
4) Anonymity relies on the authority that comes from Biblical instruction rather than personal testimonies. In other words, we write what we do because that is what the Bible teaches rather than a testimony of "this is what worked in our church."
5) Anonymity allows others to write, edit, and contribute as Brother Barnabas for years to come. The founders of Brother Barnabas Ministries recognize that we are calling for changes to the way church has been done for centuries. It will be hard for leaders and churches to change overnight but hopefully as generations pass and leadership is passed from one generation to the next future generations will plant churches that are more aligned to what Scripture teaches.
